The Kandy House

One of the most sought-after hotels not only in Kandy but the whole of Sri Lanka, The Kandy House is a sensational and memorable stay. You would not believe that you are just a short drive from the city centre when relaxing in the totally tranquil hotel gardens.

This property is an old colonial walauwa, an ancestral mansion built amongst the spice plantations in the foothills of Kandy. The architecture is authentic and utterly unique with cool interiors, hardwood floors and an intricate staircase carved out of jackwood. Each of the nine rooms has an individual scheme and facilities, ranging from Black Rajah with its octagonal two-person bath and massage area to the bright Sunbeam room with four-posted bed and vintage tub.

The Kandy House gardens are an idyll of tropical plants, with a freshwater pool and sunbeds dominating the secluded section away from the main house. There is also an ambalama with paddy field views for spa treatments, yoga sessions, and private meals. Each evening, guests can choose between a three-course set menu of European favourites or a ten-dish feast of local curries.
