Thotalagala

Luxury knows no bounds at Thotalagala, a seven-suite colonial-period planter’s bungalow in Haputale. Its majestic location is the crowning glory of Thotalagala and helped to earn the property a Conde Nast award for excellence in the category of Best Destination Hotel.

Thotalagala pays homage to notable British tea planters such as Sir Thomas Lipton and James Taylor. Authentic interiors with a luxury upgrade transport guests back to the days of the British Raj, with each room offering individual colonial décor including four-poster beds, dark wood furniture, writing desks and plush rugs. The vast ensuite bathrooms either have a walk-in shower or traditional tub.

Guests have endless places to relax indoors during their stay, from the main lounge and morning room to the cigar room with statement fireplace. There is also a swimming pool and beautiful maintained gardens. Dining is communal in the dining area, but private meals can be arranged on request. There are no TVs but Thotalagala does have complimentary Wi-Fi
